Going to a wine class with Matthew Hansen is not like going to 'class' at all, it's more like going to a fabulous dinner party where the host is gracious, witty and urbane, an eclectic group of guests are gathered together and the wine is just special......there's that familiar hint of sadness when a great night draws to a close. Often the wine Matthew chooses is not readily available, and in some cases it's not even released yet, so you know you are experiencing something truly unique! The whole experience is further enhanced by Matthew's insights into the world of the eccentric winemaker through his stories and anecdotes - Matthew should write a book, but until he does, you'll just have to go
to one of his classes!

All Matthew's classes offer more than your money's worth - top notch wines, great food, small groups and Matthew's personal, interactive, non intimidating teaching style excite and encourage your participation as you tilt, swirl, sniff, taste and laugh through a series of wines. Learn to detect aromas and flavours, experience the "opening" of wines, see if wines change with food, and get the answers to your questions on the spot! The short course led me into several advanced classes, a great introduction to me at 21, but wine collectors and vintners in my classes keep returning to the sophistication, fun and endless knowledge available in all of Matthew's programs. The highlight of my semester abroad. Jenna Zimmerman, Student, California . |
In a quest for knowledge I have attended many wine courses over the years and have always come away disappointed, most I find dull, poorly prepared and run by wine merchants who push their own lines, definitely not the case with Matthew's classes. It's not just Matthew's teaching style but everything else that makes his classes so special, the venue, the benchmark wines, and then of course his collaboration with Adrian Richardson, one of Melbourne's best Chefs. I hear Matthew's classes have attracted almost 2000 participants over the past 7 years, it's little wonder!

How very Melbourne ! An eclectic group of interesting people sampling sublime wines in a quirky Bistro in Carlton . A most knowledgeable and enthusiastic host, great food, laughs, seriously good wine tasting and appreciation all round. That's how an evening should be spent in Melbourne .

is he presents a totally independent point of view. Matthew does
not belong to a wine merchant , winery, or any other

food and wonderful company. A highly recommended course for anyone
